چکیده

The Weber Problem for a given nite set of existing facilities Ex = fEx 1 ; Ex 2 ; : : : ; Ex M g IR 2 with positive weights w m (m = 1; : : : ; M) is to nd a new facility X such that P M m=1 w m d(X; Ex m) is minimized for some distance function d. A variation of this problem is obtained if the existing facilities are situated on two sides of a linear barrier. Such barriers like rivers, highways, borders or mountain ranges are frequently encountered in practice. Structural results as well as algorithms for this non-convex optimization problem depending on the distance function and on the number and location of passages through the barrier are presented. A reduction to convex optimization problems is used to derive eecient algorithms.

Sequential Competitive Facility Location Problem in a Discrete Planar Space

In this paper, there are two competitors in a planar market. The first competitor, called, the leader, opens new facilities. After that, the second competitor, the follower, reacts to the leader’s action and opens r new facilities. The leader and the follower have got some facilities in advance in this market. The optimal locations for leader and follower are chosen among predefined candida...

Finite Dominating Sets for Rectilinear Center Problems with Polyhedral Barriers

In planar location problems with barriers one considers regions which are forbidden for the siting of new facilities as well as for trespassing. These problems are important since they reeect various real-world situations. The resulting mathematical models have a non-convex objective function and are therefore diicult to tackle using standard methods of location theory even in the case of simpl...

Planar Location Problems with Barriers under Polyhedral Gauges

The Weber problem for a given nite set of existing facilities Ex = fEx 1 ; Ex 2 ; : : : ; Ex M g IR 2 with positive weights w m (m = 1; : : : ; M) is to nd a new facility X 2 IR 2 such that P M m=1 w m d(X; Ex m) is minimized for some distance function d. In this paper we consider distances deened by polyhedral gauges. A variation of this problem is obtained if barriers are introduced which are...

A modelling framework for solving restricted planar location problems using phi-objects

This paper presents a general modeling framework for restricted facility location problems with arbitrarily shaped forbidden regions or barriers, where regions are modeled using phi-objects. Phi-objects are an efficient tool in mathematical modeling of 2D and 3D geometric optimization problems, and are widely used in cutting and packing problems and covering problems. The paper shows that the p...

A Facility Location Problem with Tchebychev Distance in the Presence of a Probabilistic Line Barrier

This paper considers the Tchebychev distance for a facility location problem with a probabilistic line barrier in the plane. In particular, we develop a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model for this problem that minimizes the total Tchebychev distance between a new facility and the existing facilities. A numerical example is solved to show the validity of the developed model. Becau...
